WHAT ARE YOU TOLERATING?

Angela

Updated: Jan 28

Have you ever been resting in bed, and to your demise, there was the annoying sound of a mosquito buzzing in your ear? It is a distinguishing sound that everyone recognizes. You tolerate it for the moment, but after a while, you realize you have a choice. You can continue to fall asleep and allow the buzz to wake you up every 10 minutes. Or, you can get up and deal with the bothersome problem. Common sense says that you must deal with the problem, or you will lose an entire night's rest. What makes one decide to deal with this toleration? If the problem persists, you will have a bigger problem throughout the night. Sooner rather than later, the tiny mosquito will not only buzz, but it will take a nip from your body to suck your blood and insert its saliva, which will, in return, bring about an irritation of itching, swelling, and redness (CDC.org). What a toleration!

To be "tolerant" is to permit or accept something (such as a behavior or belief) that one does not like" (Merriam-Webster Dictionary). I have over 200 tolerations we endure based on our decision to overlook a situation that passively invade our lives. As long as we allow these tolerations to persist, they control or immobilize us over time. We cause damage to ourselves by not dealing with the people, circumstances, or things causing the tolerance. Keep in mind that you never have to tolerate the intolerable! You have a choice! Have you found yourself in this predicament? In that case, I encourage you to seek accountability toward steps to a better, bolder, fearless you by ridding yourself of some of the tolerances in your life. Partner with me to gain insight into the advantages over the tolerations you are facing. I am here for you.
